OpenVidu 2.23.0: what's new
OpenVidu 2.23.0 is out, and as co-founders of the project we're glad to share what's new. Full details are in the release notes; the highlights:
- A global refactor of the documentation site, aimed at cutting the learning curve for anyone getting started with OpenVidu.
- Improvements to OpenVidu Call, our reference video-call application built on top of the platform.
- Basic application-server samples added for several languages, including Java, Node.js and Python — minimal, working backends exposing the same two operations every OpenVidu integration needs (initializing Sessions and creating Connections), ready to point at OpenVidu instead of building the server side from scratch. Every tutorial in the new docs is now written to work against any of these samples.
- Real-time subtitles, combining automatic transcription with real-time translation, now in active development.
If you're evaluating OpenVidu or already running it in production, this release is worth a look: the documentation refactor alone should make onboarding new developers noticeably easier, and the application-server samples cut down the boilerplate every new integration otherwise has to write. The full changelog is in the GitHub release.
